Nothing new

Heroin isn't this new drug craze. What is new is the film maker's recording the seedy lives of junkies. I have little sympathy for these kids. The Christmas scene with all the capitalistic pigs, Christmas carols, consumerism, blah blah blah, was that supossed to make me feel bad? I should give them money because they are standing at the entrance of a department store I just came out of? Oh, but they had bad childhoods.. So?! We all make choices in our lives and if they choose theirs, they must suffer the consequences. I've known many junkies, some of them chippers, a few ODs, a few "heart problems", a couple suicides, some came out alive. The whole romanticizing of it makes me ill. It's selfish, stupid, rebelious behavior and if they want to die let them. Just leave me out of it.

I suggest you get off your high horse.

Stop talking so much, and listen to whats going on around you.

If you dont want to feel sorry for these people, dont. I know i dont. But personally attacking them for their life choices . . . thats not gonna get anyone anywhere; You sound like an ignorant prick, and theyre still retarded junkies.

Theres been alot of change since this movie was filmed. This is not the problem it was. NO THANKS TO PRICKS LIKE YOU. there was a serious problem, and its a damn good thing there were people who disagreed with you. There are so many social programs, so much help for these people . . . because they do make bad choices, just like you. it doesnt mean that they dont deserve a life though . . . it doesnt mean that they should keep their eyes closed to life forever.

In summary, think about more than just your own opinion of junkies before you start on about how people should live their lives, or how we should all feel like theyre dirtbags that should just be left alone to die.

how much of this movie did you even watch? 10 minutes? 20?

Dear Jake and Mark, I know how you must feel. I was the son of your situaitons. I'm 22 and have been clean nearly three years from heroin (and all other drugs and alcohol for that matter) Thanks to the 12 step fellowship you mentioned. The trick to helping you child is to let go. Fact is, nothing is stronger then addiction, not love, not family. If you want them to get clean, you need to stop all enabling of them.. Thing is, once they get far enough away from heroin in terms of time, only THEN can they even make a decision to stay clean... that thought doesn't exist once your strung out, and the choice is gone. I can say if not for the things my family learned in Al-Anon, I wouldn't be clean yet, and she would have no sanity. Please, for your OWN sake, hit an al-anon meeting.

To the first ignorant idiot, grow up, you judge like you've never made mistakes in your life. Fact is at 22 I likely contribute further to society then you ever had, I'm a tax paying business owner, work with several charities, and help get those junkies your so eager to dismiss clean, so they have lives too. I wouldn't go back for anything, nor would I undo my stint as a junkie, It built me to who I am today, and sometimes that type of suffering is what you really need to show you your character. Only through being hopeless do you ever appreciate hope. I hope some day you find the acceptance and faith to leave your ignorance behind.
